The successful candidate will base his/her/their research program in Grand Rapids. The headquarters for the College of Human Medicine is in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 2010, the Grand Rapids campus expanded its medical education and research opportunities in western Michigan. The College of Human Medicine is involved in cutting-edge medical research, particularly in areas such as neuroscience, genetics, and healthcare disparities. Students, faculty, and researchers have opportunities to collaborate with local healthcare providers, research institutions, and the larger Michigan State University network to contribute to advancements in health science. Along the Grand Rapids Medical Mile is the Secchia Center, the College of Human Medicine's headquarters and medical education facilities, and the Michigan State University Grand Rapids Innovation Park, a collaborative health innovation hub for biomedical research, bioengineering and health technology. Innovation Park includes the MSU Grand Rapids Research Center, a 162,800-square-foot facility that houses basic and translational science research teams, the Doug Meijer Medical Innovation Building is a 200,000-square-foot facility that includes a theranostics clinic with a cyclotron-equipped radiopharmacy and PET/MR scanner, and the Perrigo Company plc North American Corporate Headquarters. Perrigo is a leading provider of consumer self-care products that will pursue collaborative efforts with MSU researchers focused on breakthroughs in life sciences. The College of Human Medicine plays an active role in addressing healthcare disparities, promoting wellness, and engaging in community health initiatives.
