Biography

Moulika Begam Shaik earned her M.D. from the International Higher School of Medicine, Kyrgyzstan 2020, and an M.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology from Grand Valley State University in 2024. She joined Dr. Scott Counts’ laboratory in August 2025 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Previously, her research focused on investigating neuroprotective pathways in Parkinson’s disease, and she is now exploring molecular mechanisms, animal behavior, and potential therapeutic approaches in Alzheimer’s disease. She has extensive experience in immunohistochemistry, rodent surgeries, tissue processing, and data analysis. With a background bridging medicine and molecular neuroscience, Moulika is passionate about translational neuroscience research. Outside the lab, she enjoys vlogging, traveling, and cooking.
