Bio
Rachel has been a member of the Steece-Collier lab since May of 2026. As a long-time Spartan, she first earned her bachelor's degree in neuroscience from Michigan State University in 2016. She spent 8 years working as a licensed veterinary technician in emergency critical care before returning to school to pursue a new career in scientific research. She earned her master's degree in cell and molecular biology from Grand Valley State University in 2026. Rachel's primary research interests include development of novel therapies for patients suffering from neurodegenerative disease, and studies of the regenerative capabilities of the axolotl. When she is not working in the lab, she enjoys spending quality time with her soon-to-be wife, Archer, as well as their many pets. She also enjoys gardening, collecting succulent plants, reading, hiking, and fostering orphaned kittens for the Humane Society of West Michigan.
