Biography
Brishti White joined Michigan State University in 2022 as a PhD student in the Neuroscience Program after earning her M.S. in Clinical and Translational Science and a B.S. in Psychology and Biology from West Virginia University. Her research investigates how the innate immune sensor Z-DNA Binding Protein 1 (ZBP1) regulates microglial inflammation and neurodegeneration in the α-synuclein preformed fibril (PFF) rat model of Parkinson’s disease. Brishti has authored publications in Experimental Neurology and the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease and contributed a book chapter to Springer Nature’s Biographical History of Behavioral Neuroendocrinology.
Beyond her research, she is deeply committed to scientific outreach, leadership, and mentorship; currently serving on multiple university committees, mentoring undergraduates through MSU’s Pathway to Research program, and helping organize professional development events. She was recently elected Student Chair for the 2027 Gordon Research Seminar on Parkinson’s Disease in Barcelona. Outside the lab, Brishti enjoys traveling, photography, kayaking, hiking, nature, painting, supporting the arts, reading, and spending time with loved ones.
