Betul Kara is a Ph.D. student in the Cell and Molecular Biology Program. She received her bachelor’s degree from Istanbul University in Molecular Biology & Genetics and a master’s degree in Neurobiology from Georgia State University. Prior to enrolling at MSU, Betul was a research assistant in the Department of Obstetrics& Gynecology at the University of Chicago. She is pursuing her Ph.D. in Dr. Counts' lab, studying the evolution of tau pathology in the default mode network during the progression of Alzheimer's disease. When she is not in the lab, Betul enjoys exploring the hidden hiking gems of Michigan, kickboxing, and karate.
