Awards, New Papers, and Announcements
- Dr. Joe Patterson was awarded a $50,000 ($10,000 cost share) Regional Pilot and Feasibility Grant for a project entitled “Assessment of the effects of insulin resistance and hyperglycemia on synucleinopathy progression” by Michigan Diabetes Research Center (NIH: NIDDK Grant P30-DK020572). The project combines type 1 and type 2 diabetic rat models with our PFF synucleinopathy model. Importantly, the project is designed to address preliminary data concerns from reviewers on his R01 submission last year. Start date 1/1/25. End date 12/31/25.
- Ahmed Atwa (Grad Student – Kanaan Lab) was awarded the Barnett Rosenberg Fellowship in Biological Sciences Research Assistantship for the spring 2025.
- Kelly DuBois (Post Doc – Kanaan Lab) received the AIM-AHEAD: NCATS Training Program - Cohort 2 Program Stipend Award.
