Papers and Awards

  • Kanthasamy, A (PL); Counts, SE (Consortium PI) has been awarded $529,872 (MSU Sub) from NIH. The U01 will study “Novel Reengineered Microbiome-based Biologic Therapy to Treat Cognitive and Behavioral Symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias” with dates of 8/1/22 – 7/31/27.
  • Caulfield (PI), Steece-Collier, Szarowicz (Co-Invs) have been awarded $399,632 from USAMRAA/DoD to study “Mechanisms of Enhanced Neuroregeneration Associated with the Common Human Single Nucleotide Polymorphism Val66Met” with dates of 8/1/22 – 7/31/2024
  • Marcia Gordon has been awarded a Henry Ford affiliation grants together with Dr. Steven Brown, Department of Radiation Oncology at Henry Ford, entitled “Enhancing the Therapeutic Gain of Radiation Therapy for Brain Cancer by Reducing Cellular Senescence.” The award is $55,000 and it is hoped that it will seed preliminary data for a larger NIH proposal. Starting around September 1, 2022 and will run one year.
  • Dylan Finneran was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the Alzheimer's Association in the amount of $174,033.13.  “Cell type-specific induction of cellular senescence in Alzheimer's Disease”. The grant runs from September 1, 2022 – August 30, 2025.
